Few months back at a Beer & Blog event in Tokyo a friend of mine, Andrew, asked me "Do you Poken?" and then pulled out of his pocket a little device with panda image on it and waved it in front of me. I had officially been introduced to the Poken phenomenon.

There are few tools you find online these days that are truly imaginative and unique, but at least for me, Ommwriter is one of those.  Sadly though it is only available for Mac so this intro has to be very short as I am only fitted with Windows!

There has been countless times where friends or family members have asked me how they should do this or that on their computer. It could be questions such as how to use Excel lookup tables, set up signatures in Gmail or create pdf document. Many are hard to explain in writing or even over the phone and frustration sets in, both for me writing long and complicated emails for something that takes couple of minutes to do and for the person asking, as they have to work themselves through such documents.

Having switched totally from Outlook to Gmail I lost my favorite to-do list feature. Even though Gmail has both calendar and to-do lists I have found them to be the one feature at Google that I am not bonding with! HiTask, though somewhat simple, provides an alternative to keep track of my schedule.
